The Labiaplasty procedure in Maryland has been popular among women since the early 2000s, when a major magazine reported on the Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation at a Los Angeles clinic led by Dr. David Matlock, where women started to get their vaginas rejuvenated, labia updated, and vulvar reconfigured. Since that time, the field has grown to include many different styles of the procedure. Many women choose the Labiaplasty surgery to correct functional deficiencies; however, a recent study showed that most vaginal rejuvenation procedures have been conducted for aesthetic purposes.
Types of Labiaplasty
The Labiaplasty surgery involves trimming the labia minora that the patient feels bulge more than normal so that they match the overall aesthetic of the vulva. The inner vaginal lips are still visible after this procedure.
Another form of this procedure is called Barbie Labiaplasty. In this form of vaginal cosmetic surgery, the labia minora are made shorter or can be removed completely so that they are nearly invisible, creating a look of a clamshell or Barbie doll appearance — no inner lips with the outer labia sealed together.
The Labial Puff procedure is considered a non-surgical alternative to labiaplasty and laser vaginal rejuvenation. The labial puff encompasses injecting the labia majora to enlarge it, giving perhaps a healthier appearance. Sometimes, this injection is done to help conceal the inner lips of the vagina that some women find too prominent.
